WHY USING BUSINESS SIMULATIONS IN MANAGEMENT EDUCATION?
  OUR BUSINESS SIMULATIONS

Olivier Tabatoni's interview on management education Management Education is essentially about experiencing. There are few cook-book recipes and decisions are highly context-related. Business simulations provide a learning process whereby participants have the opportunity to experiment a wide variety of situations, learn through trial and error and manage situations where results depends as much on their decisions as on their competitors'.

In Business simulations participants have to define their strategy but also to adapt it to the competitive situation. When to react, when to stay put is the classical dilemma executives have to manage.

THE LEARNING PROCESS

- an action learning process: in business simulations participants are immersed in situations where they have to discover the key success factors by themselves. The objective is for participants to experience management concepts in a 'just in time' context, a much more effective approach than the traditional 'just in case'.

- a repetitive loop: Participants go through several decision-results loops, learning from their mistakes. They thus have the possibility to test different approaches, check their understanding and combine business intuition with hard facts analysis.

- an intensive exercise: the playful nature of the simulation and the diversity of stimuli during the exercise allows for very intensive sessions. Facilitators interacting with participants in their breakout rooms have a wonderful playground where to answer the specific questions the simulation originated.

- a group dynamics exercise: business simulations allows for participants from different horizons, functional responsibilities and backgrounds to work, exchange and trade approaches, learning from their mistakes and from each others in a safe environment.
